Capital Connection always welcomes new members. The Chorus currently has over 30 members and is growing steadily.
Capital Connection sings a cappella (unaccompanied) in four part harmony with three of the parts,
So if you:
- are available Wednesday evenings
- enjoy singing
- want to develop your singing skills
- would like to experience the thrill of performing
- could do with some "me" time
then come and visit us at any of our open rehearsals on a Wednesday evening to experience our style of singing and meet our friendly members from around the area.
We are particularly interested in finding new ladies with lower voices, for example who sing hymns in the men's octave for comfort, or who have no problem singing along with male pop-stars (though not the squeaky ones!) - but all voice ranges are welcome!
Capital Connection aims to provide an opportunity for women to sing for pleasure and develop their vocal technique, with a wide and varied repertoire, from sad songs and luscious slow ballads to up-tempo tunes with jazzy syncopated rhythms.
The weekly rehearsals combine exercises to develop the voice range, tonal quality and breath control with learning new music, polishing repertoire songs, practising visual performance and choreography. The ability to read music is not essential as CDs are provided to help to learn the voice part. All we ask is the ability to sing in tune with a pleasant, straight tone (no vibrato) and that you enjoy yourself!
Singing is the most ancient form of self-expression, has proven health benefits and is an effective way to counter the stresses of modern life. Come and give us a try!
